My husband, Glen and I moved to Courtenay in 2005 from North Vancouver.>
There, I left my 20 year career with the former BC Rail, as well as a great fitness program. So, coming to Courtenay I had two new challenges; finding a job AND another great fitness program.
Finding a job proved to be fairly easy. I’m currently working in an accounting position employed by a radio broadcasting company that owns stations across western and eastern Canada. But, finding that great fitness program was proving to be more challenging UNTIL I found Bikram Yoga.
I’ve always had a passion for physical activity and sports. It has always been a large part of my life. I was very involved and excelled in competitive sports throughout my school years. I was on the swim team, track and field team, volley ball team, field hockey team, and the gymnastic team. Wanting to carry on my love for physical activity that challenged me mentally and physically in my adult life, I pursued fitness programs.
Bikram Yoga was a total mind and body workout taking me to new depths physically and mentally. I was hooked!
Then The Studio introduced HIIT and the opportunity to teach it was presented to me. I loved the idea that it was done to music, fast paced and intense. I could work out to music, something I had loved about aerobic classes – I was the “aerobic queen” back in the 20th century.
Now HIIT takes us into the 21st century where you can sculpt and tone your body, gain strength and endurance, and groove out to music! Oh, and let’s not forget, you can talk, laugh, grunt and even sing along during class if you want. You certainly, can’t do that during your yoga class!
See you at thestudio, whether you’re doing Yoga, Barre or HIIT.
